Our Credit Assistance Services

We provide credit assistance in relation to consumer and commercial finance.

Our services may include:

  • making enquiries about your finance needs, objectives and circumstances

  • obtaining further information from you and, where required, from third parties such as employers, accountants and credit reporting bodies

  • investigating loan options that may suit your requirements

  • providing information about one or more loan products

  • assessing, verifying and documenting the information needed to support your application

  • helping you complete and submit an application

  • liaising with lenders during the assessment and approval process

  • assisting with loan finalisation where required

Our Obligations to You

When providing credit assistance for consumer credit, we are required by law to make a preliminary assessment about whether the proposed credit contract is likely to be unsuitable for you.

To do this, we must:

  • make reasonable enquiries about your requirements and objectives

  • make reasonable enquiries about your current financial situation

  • take reasonable steps to verify your financial information

A credit contract may be unsuitable if, at the time of assessment:

  • you are unlikely to be able to meet the repayment obligations, or could only do so with substantial hardship

  • the credit does not meet your requirements or objectives

Because of these obligations, we may need to request detailed information and supporting documents from you. It is important that the information you provide is complete and accurate.

Preliminary Assessment

If we provide you with credit assistance, we will prepare a preliminary assessment as required by law and keep it for 7 years. You may request a copy of that preliminary assessment within that period.

We are only required to provide a copy if we have actually provided you with credit assistance.

Our Quote for Providing Credit Assistance

We may charge a fee for providing credit assistance.

Our current quote is:

  • up to $2,500 including GST, or

  • up to 10% of the net amount financed (NAF)

This is described as an Origination Fee and is only payable if your loan proceeds to settlement. It is a one-off fee payable at settlement. In some cases, the fee may be paid directly by you, or it may be deducted from or included in the loan disbursement, which would increase the loan amount by that fee.

Commissions We May Receive

We may receive commission from lenders or other credit providers if a loan introduced by us settles.

The amount of commission varies depending on the lender, product, loan size and other commercial factors. Commission is generally paid by the lender, not directly by you, although lender pricing and fees may reflect their overall cost of distribution.

Where required, further details of commissions may be provided to you in your application and settlement documentation.

Fees That May Be Payable to Third-Party Referrers

In some cases, we may pay a fee to a third-party referrer who introduced you to us. Where this applies, the amount and nature of that arrangement may vary. The supplied Credit Guide notes that details of fees payable by Get A Loan Finance to third-party referrers form part of the disclosure framework.

Before proceeding with any loan, you should carefully review the lender’s own credit contract, terms and conditions, and fee disclosures.

This may include obtaining information from or disclosing information to:

Your Consent

The supplied document says acceptance may occur by signing, e-signing, submitting an enquiry, emailing acceptance, or sending supporting documents requested for an application. It also states that by accepting, the customer acknowledges receipt of the Credit Guide, accepts the quote for credit assistance, appoints the credit licensee to provide credit assistance, and authorises the actions set out in the privacy statement.
